Ipad Camera Connection Kit

29 Aug
* This is a late post. This should have been posted August 25, 2011.

Since the family is off to Cebu for the coming long weekend, the Husband told me that I can only bring either my netbook or my ipad. Whichever I would bring, I should be able to do the following:
1) can easily hand-carry it
2) surf the net (even inside the hotel room)
3) back-up our pictures in case our 2 SD cards become full (most important!)

We’ll be staying at Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa, so I know that the complimentary internet access in the rooms will be through ethernet cable only.

With the netbook, I can do all three. The downside is that the netbook can be a bit heavy when hand-carried for a long time. (I have done this during our trip to HK last April). I also have to bring its power cable and mouse. I can put it in our luggage for check-in but I don’t want to risk it. Luggages can be lost, who knows. I am also sure that we won’t bring it along while we explore Cebu, which is part of our itinerary, and just keep it in the hotel room safe.

With the Ipad, it’s light so I can carry it in my bag even while we tour. Although I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the complimentary internet access of the hotel, this can be solved by connecting to the net via 3G when inside the room. The only problem would be backing-up our pictures from the digicam.

The solution: get the Ipad Camera Connection Kit!

With this, I’ll have no problems in transferring our pictures if the SD cards become full. It’s okay if I’ll just surf the net via 3G. Or maybe we’ll get lucky that the WiFi in Shang Mactan is strong enough and reach our room, just like what we had in Shang Bora.

Dinner at Sala Restaurant

20 Aug

Last August 12 , the Husband and I had our usual Friday dinner date at Sala Restaurant in Makati. It’s just a small place, but it offers a quiet and elegant fine-dining experience to its customers. Be warned that dinner at Sala is very expensive. I had to try the place since the Husband has been bragging that the food is really delicious. He’s been at Sala twice already, having dined with their company’s clients.

As soon as we ordered, we were served with complimentary breads in a nice tray, and a slice of butter. Sorry I wasn’t able to take a picture. I only ate a little of the bread to prepare for the full meal ahead.

After that, we sampled a little more complimentary appetite teaser:

Bruschetta with tasteful creamy filling and herb cream cheese

Here’s what we had for the rest of dinner…

For the Husband:

A Twice Baked Souffle with Prawns, Feta and Dill - P420

Grilled US Prime Beef Tenderloin, Carrot and Rutabaga Mash, Mustard Butter and Frites - P1,690

For Me:

Ravioli of Portabella Mushrooms, Ricotta and Thyme with Parmesan and White Truffle Oil - P460

Roast Sea Bass Fillet, Sweet Shrimp Colcannon, Saffron, Tomato and Lemon Vinaigrette - P1,280

Di naman kami gutom, no?! Hahaha! 😀

Our total bill was a whopping Php 4,000++ (with drinks, VAT and service charge) – just for the two of us!

The Husband and I shared food so we can taste each dish. Yeah, it was delicious. But I still enjoyed the food at Myron’s more than Sala, without having to pay that much also.

We didn’t have dessert anymore because 1) both of us were so full, and 2) our bill might reach 5,000 already. LOL! I even got a little dizzy because of too much eating. I really was a glutton that night. I pray that the Lord would forgive me.

Scarred for Life

12 Aug

Not a day goes by
When I don’t think about the past.
And every time it crossed my mind
It pains me,
And the hurt is still as much.

I try so hard to not mind it
And think of joyful memories instead.
It works sometimes.
But oftentimes happy thoughts just aren’t enough,
And sadness would fill me.

I appreciate all the things you do
To make things as they were.
But I guess what hurts just can not be forgotten that easily.
In time… Maybe…
Wounds heal, but a scar is left therein.
