Noel Bazaar Finds

27 Dec

Every start of the Christmas season, bazaars sprang everywhere in the metro. It is always good to check them out ‘coz you’ll be sure to find something to buy that is insanely cheap you wouldn’t believe it at first, and still of good quality.

Here’s what I got when the Husband and I went to the Noel Bazaar at the PICC Forum Tent last December 14.

Hello Kitty blouses

The blouses cost Php 200 (pink) and Php 100 (white) only. And the pink one is a Sanrio brand. 😛

Sandals and Slip-on from Marikina

I got crazy with these sandals. Why? Because they cost Php 150 for 2 pairs. That’s Php 75 a pair! You might ask if they are durable. Well, Filipinos know very well that shoes/sandals/slippers made from Marikina are very durable and would last for a long time. Two years ago, I bought a pair just like the brown one in the upper right. And I could still wear them until now. The rubber soles are just worn out because of frequent use. So I am definitely happy with them.

The Husband was also able to buy his gifts for all of his officemates in the bazaar. So I really suggest you take advantage of bazaars, especially if you have lots of gifts to buy and you’re in a tight budget. 🙂

Iphone 4S

30 Nov

Good times! 🙂

The Husband asked his officemate in Zurich to buy one for me since the Iphone 4S will be released here in PH by January next year. So my current Iphone 4 went to him since his Nokia N97 mini is almost dying on him.

4S is not that different with the Iphone 4 in terms of features, except for Siri. Have tried her and she’s really not much help. You need to speak slowly and loudly for her to completely understand what you’re saying. She can only send a text message, call someone from your contact, do reminders and alarms. She won’t be able to open apps for you and even google search. But still, I love my new phone!

I also had second thoughts in having it because the “Enable 3G” switch in settings was removed. I always turn it on in my IP4, together with Cellular Data, whenever I want to connect to the Internet if WiFi is not available. Keeping both 3G and Cellular Data off also let me avoid being charged with unnecessary data usage. It turned out that when I switch the “Cellular Data” to On, 3G is also turned on automatically. So no more problemo.

Ipod Nano 6G

26 Oct

I just love, love my pink Ipod Nano! Look how kikay it is! Hehehe… 😀

I’ve already removed all the songs in my Iphone and Ipad. All songs and podcasts will have a home in my Ipod. And I can listen to my music and podcasts whenever and wherever I go, even while working. 😀

Mineral Make-up

25 Oct

I’ve always wanted to put on a little make-up whenever I go out but unfortunately, I have sensitive skin. It’s hard for me to find a product that will not cause pimple breakouts even with the slightest brush of the powder. That is why I got interested with mineral make-ups, or MMUs. I have read that since these make-ups are made from minerals, they shouldn’t cause any irritation to the skin. So maybe these are the kind that I should try.

The Body Shop has come up with the Extra Virgin line of mineral make-ups. I bought the loose powder one in 302, that’s the natural color. I also bought a kabuki brush for it.

First time I tried it? I got a pimple on my forehead. 😦 But, I was thinking maybe the pimple came out because I’ll be having my period soon. So I’ll just stop using it for now and just had another go at it after. Will just give another update then. Wish me luck! 😀

Ipad Camera Connection Kit

29 Aug
* This is a late post. This should have been posted August 25, 2011.

Since the family is off to Cebu for the coming long weekend, the Husband told me that I can only bring either my netbook or my ipad. Whichever I would bring, I should be able to do the following:
1) can easily hand-carry it
2) surf the net (even inside the hotel room)
3) back-up our pictures in case our 2 SD cards become full (most important!)

We’ll be staying at Shangri-la’s Mactan Resort and Spa, so I know that the complimentary internet access in the rooms will be through ethernet cable only.

With the netbook, I can do all three. The downside is that the netbook can be a bit heavy when hand-carried for a long time. (I have done this during our trip to HK last April). I also have to bring its power cable and mouse. I can put it in our luggage for check-in but I don’t want to risk it. Luggages can be lost, who knows. I am also sure that we won’t bring it along while we explore Cebu, which is part of our itinerary, and just keep it in the hotel room safe.

With the Ipad, it’s light so I can carry it in my bag even while we tour. Although I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the complimentary internet access of the hotel, this can be solved by connecting to the net via 3G when inside the room. The only problem would be backing-up our pictures from the digicam.

The solution: get the Ipad Camera Connection Kit!

With this, I’ll have no problems in transferring our pictures if the SD cards become full. It’s okay if I’ll just surf the net via 3G. Or maybe we’ll get lucky that the WiFi in Shang Mactan is strong enough and reach our room, just like what we had in Shang Bora.
